Elle 18 was one of the first lipsticks I used when I was in school. They have recently launched matte lipsticks and as a lipstick lover, I couldn’t resist buying. I purchased the shade ‘Prom Pink’ which I’ll be reviewing today and is my first product review. Price & Quantity Elle 18 color pops matte lipsticks are priced at Rs. 100 for 4.3 g. Packaging Am glad that Elle 18 has made changes to their lipstick packaging. The new range of lipsticks come in a cylindrical shaped black pack with a girl’s face on it.The packaging is sturdy and travel friendly. Shade The shade isn’t exactly pink. It is a combination of pink and coral. It is as beautiful and chirpy as its name. It is pigmented and instantly brightened my face. Two swipes of ‘Prom Pink’ will do the magic. Texture It isn’t matte but it is ‘creamy matte’ and doesn’t dry out my lips. It has a mild cocoa smell but vanishes when once applied. Staying Power It stays for 3 to 4 hours and needs reapplication after meals. It leaves a slight hint of colour on the lips as it fades away. My Final Thoughts I’m in love with this shade and I would recommend everyone to give a try. You wouldn’t regret buying it, as it is pigmented and is worth more than its price. A big thumbs up for this shade and I can’t wait to get my hands on other shades too. Initially popular with younger generation, selfies have gained popularity over the time. In 2012, The Time magazine listed ‘selfie’ as one of the ‘Top 10 Buzzwords’ of that year. The #selfie hashtag is one of the most popular hashtags in the photos sharing social networking site, Instagram. Be it a party, vacation or movie night, selfies are a must. And there are other people like me who believe that, ‘a selfie a day keeps dullness away’.
Here are a few tips for clicking a perfect selfie 1. Lighting The first and the most important tip is to find the right lighting. You may be looking at your best but if you don’t find the right lighting, it can mess up your selfie. Look out for natural light, as it makes you look gorgeous. Stand either inside near the window or outside. 2. Angle Experiment with angles before you click a selfie. This helps you to find the most flattering angle. Hold your phone higher to your face as it brings out the right proportions. 3. Background Check Many of us fail to do a background check before clicking a selfie. I’ve seen beautifully composed selfies but the background which has a pile of clothes on the bed spoils it all. So next time, before you click a selfie in your bedroom or bathroom (because bathroom selfies are quite popular) do a thorough background check. 4. Selfie Stick Invest in a good selfie stick. This helps you take a full body shot. You can easily click selfies of our outfit, shoes and your accessories. It also makes family selfies and groupfies very much easier. 5. Be Yourself Don’t compel yourself to do poses which you aren’t comfortable just because it is a trend. Some may like to pout while others like to smile. In the process of clicking a perfect selfie, don’t lose your originality. There is nothing more attractive than a confident and an original YOU. For regular updates, follow me on Who doesn’t like pink lips? Everyone does. But as we grow older, our lips get pigmented. Remember when we had soft, pink lips as a baby or as a child? Our lifestyle plays a major role in the loss of our natural lip colour, causing pigmentation. But it doesn’t mean that we can’t get back those baby lips.
Here are a few easy tips to get rid of lip pigmentation. 1. Beetroot This is the most commonly used remedy to get pink lips. Beet root has natural properties to reduce darkness of lips thus resulting in pink lips naturally. 2. Lip Balms Apply lip balms with SPF/UV protectors to minimise exposure to sun. Sun rays causes lip pigmentation as there is an increased amount of melanin in the lips. 3. Exfoliation Apply vaseline or any lip balm over night and scrub it off with a baby brush the next morning. It removes dead cells from the lips and makes it look soft. Practise this method daily for best results. 4. Almond oil, Lemon & Honey Apply a mixture of almond oil, lemon and honey and leave it overnight. Wash it off in the morning. 5. Sugar & Butter Make a thick paste by mixing sugar and butter. Apply this on your lips and scrub. Sugar helps in getting rid of dead cells and butter improves the colour of lips. Practise these tips regularly and get back those baby lips. You’ll be surprised to see the difference in your lips. For regular updates, follow me on Hi all,
Hope you are enjoying your weekend. Today’s blog is about an easy way to get gorgeous curls. I love curling my hair for special occasions as it makes my hair look thicker and gives a sophisticated look. But sometimes I get a little lazy to curl by myself as it is time consuming. This trick has helped me get curls on my lazy days. It is just a ‘3 step process’. Yes, you heard it right. It takes only 3 steps. “Braid, Heat & Unbraid” You’ll need
Step:1 Divide your hair into parts (2,4,6 etc) depending on your hair’s thickness and the intensity of curls you want. Now braid them, as you would do during your school days. Step:2 By using a hair straightener, heat your braids. Make sure to heat the braids evenly. Be careful while using a hair straightener. Step:3 Now that you’ve heated the braids, unbraid them one by one. Voila, your curls are done. Note: Avoid combing your hair after heating and use a hair spray to set them. Sharing is caring. So share this “Braid, Heat & Unbraid” technique with your friends. For regular updates, follow me on Hello all, My name is J.J.Doggy (my initials stand for Jacinth & Jeyakumar). I have a beautiful family which consists of dadda, mumma, akka (elder sister), cat sister and grandma. My akka has recently started a blog and she wanted me to share my life story with you all. Before I became a part of this beautiful family, I was living on the streets for one year. As I was a little puppy, I started wandering through the streets. I was starving and would eat food from bins. It was hard to get food as I was attacked by grown up dogs on the street. It was a hot day and I entered into a street with trees and beautiful houses. I was searching for food in the neighbourhood and that’s when my akka saw me. She and her family were kind enough to feed me with milk and bread. They couldn’t take me home because they already had 5 to 6 cats. Few other people of the neighbourhood also started feeding me. Do you think my life got easier then? No, definitely no. Because there were others who did not like dogs and were bothered about my presence on the street. They would beat, chase me away and pour water on me. Whenever I wasn’t in the street, my dadda would search me on the neighbourhood and feed me with biscuits. That’s when I started liking him. My family had gone to Chennai for a month for my akka’s college admission. I gave birth to three lovely puppies. If my family would’ve been with me, they could’ve seen my kids. But before they came, the neighbourhood people contacted the municipality office to take away my puppies. That was the most horrible day in my life. I couldn’t stop them from taking away my puppies. All I could do was plead and cry. But how do humans understand it? They find it as ‘barking’. As soon as my family knew about this, they spayed me and took inside their house. I officially became a member of their house. Since then, the neighbourhood became affectionate to me as I wouldn’t give birth to any more puppies. I have a friend named ‘Scooby’, who is hyper active. My other friend was ‘Pappu’, who passed away few years back. I like
I feel so happy and blessed today. But what makes me sad, is the thought of so many other stray dogs living in the streets with no food and shelter. I wish every home adopts a stray dog and make their life better. Will you please adopt a stray dog? Keep reading my akka’s blogs and for regular updates, follow her on Lots of love, J.J.Doggy Exposure to harsh sun rays and UV radiation can cause your skin to get tanned. My skin gets tanned easily. When I was a student, every evening I came back home from school a little tanned. So my mother made it a habit to apply a special herbal face mask every Saturdays. I started following this skin care ritual since then. Sun tan not only makes your skin look dull, it also causes wrinkles and makes you age faster. Exposure to UV rays can destroy your immune system and cause serious health issues such as skin cancer. Shocking isn’t? Here is a simple home remedy that I use once in a week to remove tan. Products Needed
Method of Preparation It is a quite easy method, as all you have to do is mix all the 5 ingredients, make it as a paste and apply on your sun tanned areas. Leave it for 10 to 15 minutes till it gets dried and wash it off. Tip Mix equal amounts of turmeric, gram flour and neem powder and store them in a container. This way you can save storage space and you don’t need different containers. How it works?

Onam is the biggest and most important festival of Kerala. Pookalam – flower mats, Onasadya – meal consisting of 11 to 13 dishes served on banana leaves and Kasavu sari – the traditional cream colour sari with golden border, paired with colourful blouses are my favourite part of this festival. As I love dressing up, this was the perfect occasion to try traditional wear and makeup. I paired my Kasavu sari with a maroon blouse that had golden polka dots (I couldn’t resist buying it since I love polka dots). And finally, after a long wait I got to wear my favourite pair of jhumkas with pearl drops. I wore a statement ring and a gold colour watch in this look. My favourite part of dressing up is the makeup. I’ve listed down the products used for makeup in the order of application. Products used for makeup
